Try a Little Craftiness

I've really been trying to be creative and thrifty when it comes to decorating the house.  I really enjoy making things...cakes, meals, crafts...anything. After finishing a project, it makes me feel so accomplished.  Especially if I finish it successfully!

I came across this wall decor at Hobby Lobby the other day.  While our last name doesn't start with a "U", I grabbed this sucker up because it was only $2 (regular price like $12 or something)!  I instantly thought, "how can I make this work for our house?"  So I bought some cool scrapbooking paper....

I heart gardens!

I love gardening!  Even during dorm and apartment living, I've had indoor plants and container gardens.  But this year, I get to have my very own veggie garden!  I found some bargain price tools and went to work last weekend tilling up the soil.  I hand tilled a 6x10 area (with a little help from Justin) in the corner of our back yard.  It was hard work!  Sheesh!

Yesterday, I got it all finished up and planted lettuce, tomato, bell pepper, hot banana pepper, red potatoes, carrots, black eyed peas, onions and green beans.  I can't wait until the summer to harvest my first crop!  hee hee!

Treasure Hunting

This week marks 2 months for Justin and I as homeowners!  Woo hoo!  We already have a lot of furniture and decor so our house isn't bare, but we do need a few more pieces of furniture.  And, I'd like to get some new wall decor and accent pieces along the way.  Sooooo, I've been bargain shopping at thrift stores and garage sales and boy have I been finding some amazing stuff!  A few weeks ago, I stopped off at an estate sale and found this beauty.

Since we don't have any kids, I'm using one of the extra bedrooms as a craft room =)  I needed a work table/desk but wanted to find something inexpensive and something functional.  When I saw this little gem, I yelled out in excitement (seriously, everyone was looking at me like I was a crazy woman).  I called Justin right away so that we could load it up in the Pathfinder and take it home.  And guess how much it cost...only $25!  That made me giddy.

After about a million bajillion attempts to get it into the room and me on the verge of tears with thoughts my perfect little desk not fitting through the door of my perfect little room,  we finally had to take off a hallway closet door in order to maneuver it into the bedroom.  But I think it was worth it, don't you?

London Bridge is Falling Down...

Well, not exactly, but our fence did!  Our fence wasn't in the best shape to start with when we bought the house, but we thought we had a little life left in it until this happened.

The Luck of the Irish

I wanted to share with all of you our pretty door hanger for St. Patrick's Day.  I found this free printable at eighteen25, a blog I've recently stumbled upon and L-O-V-E!  They've got some great ideas over there.
