Harvesting Potatoes!

Look at all the potatoes that came out of my garden!  Oooooh!  I can't wait to eat them!  YUM!

I had a variety of all sizes but this one was the biggest of all!  Look at it!  It was about the size of a softball.  So proud of myself for growing these babies!

Here are the first of my tomatoes too!  They are going to be sliced and put in a salad tonight for supper!  I love my basket being full of yummy veggies from my garden.

"Mama Said There'd Be Days Like This"

Ever have a bad day?  Get in a fight with your bestie?  Someone take advantage of you?  Eat a whole box of cookies when you are on a diet?  Someone make you feel like you are not good enough?  Just need to be inspired?  I've been having quite a few crazy days lately so here are some good quotes that will get you over that hump and some that'll just make ya chuckle...

Need to remember this one! ;)

Rosette Necklace

I whipped this out a couple of Saturday's ago.  I had seen one similar on Made it on Monday and thought how easy it would be to make!  I used ribbon as the ties to make it adjustable so that you can wear it with any shirt.  It looks really great with a scoop neck shirt or tank top!

I love the yellow mixed with the burlap.  It says, happy, sunshine, summery, laid back, and casual.  The pearls give it just enough daintiness to make it girly.  I've got some pink fabric that is whispering in my ear.  I wouldn't be surprised if I make a pink and a yellow just for me sometime soon!

Fab Find Friday-Garage Sale Chair

I found this chair at a garage sale a few weeks ago.  It was just $10 but the lady let me have it for $7.50.  I knew instantly that this would be a great chair to do my first ever cushion recovering project!  I'll be working on this in the next few days and will be using that yellow fabric to cover the cushions and will be staining the wood a dark walnut.  Oooh!  It's gonna look so good against the green curtain and those....uh, i don't know what to call them...blinds.  We'll just call them Tahiti blinds from now on!
Oh man. This is the stuff that is keeping me going these days!

Have y'all found any good deals lately?  I'd love to see them!

Hanging Votive Wall Decor Re-Do

I received the most beautiful hanging candle holder for my birthday.  My lovely future sister-in-law gave it to me.  The colors perfectly matched the guest bathroom, but there was a problem...the holders were linked together vertically so I'd have to hang it on the ceiling.  Hmmm, I loved it but I just could never seem to get it to look right.  So I made this instead!

Father's Day is Sunday!

Any of you have any special plans with your dads?  I spend father's day last year with the Harmon family, so this year I'm making the trek to my parent's house so I can spend time with my daddy!

I've been roaming around the internet for free printables and have found some cute stuff!

I found this cute printable that you can use for a diy card, tag or decoration!

Welcome to Our Living Room

Our living room is one of the rooms that I have worked hardest on getting it complete and I think it is coming together nicely.  I wanted this room to have a casual, homey, relaxing, fun atmosphere so I'm aiming for more bolder, colorful, modern decor pieces and fabric.

Recipe: Pork Marsala

I love food.  I love preparing it, cooking it, baking it, displaying it, but most of all I LOVE EATING IT!  Justin, on the other hand, doesn't enjoy food near as much as I do...and you can tell this for sure by my plump disposition compared to his rail thin physique :-/

Anyway, cooking is sort of my outlet to express myself.  I am in no way a culinary genius, but it does feel nice when I wow someone with my skills in the kitchen, especially if it's one of my own recipes-you know, the kind of cooking that you have no recipe for, you just rely on your know-how and taste buds?

I'm always trying to impress Justin with my cooking.  It's a HUGE challenge because food to him is simply nourishment.  He gets no joy from eating...unless its' junk food he once told me.

But one day, I finally did it.  I tried a new recipe-Pork Marsala and this was his reaction" Oh, babe!  This is rrrreeeallllly good!"  Score! :-)

Doesn't it look good?! Yum!  Make it for yourself and your family!
I slightly altered the recipe below, but I've added my changes in parentheses.

Fab Find Friday-Papasan Chair

I've been wanting a papasan chair for some time. Don't ask me why.  I just woke up one day and decided that these were the most comfortable chairs in the world.  It's perfect to curl up in and read a book.  I was constantly telling Justin how I'd really love to have one outside one day, under a covered porch, so I could drink my coffee and read in it on Saturday mornings (that has been my regular Saturday morning routine since Molly came into my life and has dragged me out of bed no later than 9 am.  And y'all know I'm not a morning person!)

Pier One
So after we bought the house and had a little more room, I decided that I'd price them, just to get an idea.  This one at Pier One is $140.  WOWZA!  Too much for me, thank you!  I guess I'd just do without.
frowny face>>>>>    :-(

The Land of the Free

Forth of July is just around the corner and I've been busy brainstorming on something pretty for my door.  I decided on making a simple wreath.  I was able to get most of the supplies super cheap-it only cost me about $5 to make!  Isn't it cute?!

Here's what you will need...

Our Formal Livingroom/ Office

I'm slowly but surely getting the pictures up of the rest of our house to show our family and friends who weren't able to make the party back in April.  Sorry for such the long delay!  Those moments where the house is spotless clean free of clutter are far and few between!  If you missed the post where I showed off our bedroom you can find it here.

Ok, so here is the the room before we moved in.  Empty, with no life.

And here's the room today...

Monthly Menu to the Rescue!

It's the beginning of the month and that time again for me to plan our monthly menu.  Yes, that's right, I said monthly.  I like to get all my shopping done at one time because those crazy, grumpy Walmart crowds make me insane.

I make a monthly menu for 4 reasons:
1.  It saves us money.  When I plan ahead, I know exactly what ingredients to buy for exactly what meals I'm going to prepare.  So I'm not buying food we don't need.
2.   It helps me know what to take out of the freezer to thaw in the mornings when I'm walking around in a stupor, well before my morning coffee.
3.  I know exactly what meal to make.  There's no thinking during the week, no questioning, no "cooker's block."  I do all of that at one time so that it can be all rainbows and puppy dogs the rest of the month...er, at least on the cooking front.
4.  I'm a planner.  I like to plan things.  Did I also mention I'm a list maker?  I like to make lists- a lot of lists.
